Commander Alice Fike obtained a Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing from Syracuse University. After serving as a Peace Corps health volunteer in rural Burkina Faso, she obtained a Master’s Degree in Nursing at the University of California, San Francisco as a nurse practitioner. Her career focus is providing care for marginalized communities. CDR Fike is a U.S. Public Health Service officer with training and experience in infectious disease surveillance, TB control, prevention of vertical transmission of HIV, and mass immunization campaigns and is fluent in French and Spanish. She holds an advanced practice certification in rheumatology and has worked with NIAMS in the Office of the Clinical Director since 2009 with a two year tour in Niger at the U.S. Embassy from 2016-2018. Her research interests include health disparities and applied epidemiology as related to marginalized populations with rheumatic diseases.
